  • Check with the service provider when booking as to whether there are any out of pocket expenses.

To Our Valued Patients,

We would like to advise that Northend Medical Centre is transitioning to mixed billing commencing from Sunday 1st October 2023.

Timeline for transition to Mixed Billing:

Commencing Sunday 1st October – Mixed Billing weekends Commencing Monday 16th October – Mixed Billing weekends and weeknights  ** Weeknights for this transitioning period are 6pm to 11pm Commencing

Wednesday 1st November – Mixed Billing at all times

Unfortunately, rising costs of staff wages, medical supplies, insurances and utilities, it is financially no longer possible to continue to provide high quality medical service whilst bulk billing all our patients.

An amount of $20 Out-of-pocket fees will now apply, except for the following patient groups who will continue to be bulk billed:

  • Children under 16 years of age
  • Health Care card / Pension Card / DVA Card Holders
  • Patients over 65 years of age

We have kept the fee as low as possible and patients will be required to pay for their consultation, in full, on the day of their appointment. Your Medicare rebate will be processed during payment and will be back in your nominated account within 24 hours. Please ensure that you have notified Medicare of your bank account details.

We pride ourselves on delivering the highest level of patient care with the doctor of your choice.

WHY ARE WE INTRODUCING AN OUT-OF-POCKET-FEE?

With inflation and the rising costs of staff wages, medical supplies, insurance and utilities it has become increasingly difficult to provide quality care without increasing the fee.

We want to attract and keep the very best specialist General Practitioners and maintain a very high-quality service. We have been advertising for more GP’s for over 2 years, without success, because GP’s prefer to work in a mixed billing or private billing practice.

The team at Northend Medical Centre would like to thank you for your understanding and look forward to offering you our excellent medical care for many years to come.

FEES

Fees are payable at the time of consultation by credit card or EFTPOS. Accounts are unfortunately not able to be given, payment must be made on the day.

NO CASH payments accepted.

Our practice is equipped with TYRO and Medicare Online. These facilities allow the practice to directly lodge your receipt for Medicare refunds.
